I have explored christianity in much of my work and while I identify as an atheist, religion still fascinates me. The historical, cultural, social and extremist aspects are all interesting, but of course, the art and artifacts are of some of the most interest to me.
Also of interest to me are the scandals and misdeeds and transgressions of the catholic church. Just look at the news stories when you enter ‘catholic church’ into the google search bar! It’s almost entirely scandal and pretty poor excuses for priests and others of religious ranking we hold to a higher moral standard.
A lot of these pieces are a cross-section of things the church have historically deemed sinful or morally corrupt, though have participated in behind closed doors for centuries.
The post here is a little late for Holy Week, but who can’t make a little time for God in their days?
